Bang for the Buc? Unfortunately, Tampa Bay’s C.J. Wilson finds it

It turns out Jason Pierre-Paul wasn’t the only National Football League player to suffer a fireworks-related injury over the holiday weekend. Guess we can look forward to all National Football League contracts banning fireworks in the near future.

“We are aware that C.J. was involved in an accident that occurred over the July 4th holiday”, the team said in a statement Wednesday.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback C.J. “It is our understand that his injury occurred to ne of his hands and our primary concern at this moment is for his long-term health”.

Neither the Bucs nor Wilson’s representatives would provide details regarding the accident or the length of time Wilson might need to recover from his injury. Wilson injured his hand during a fireworks accident over the weekend.

After signing a two-year, $1.08 million deal, Wilson appeared in two games for Tampa Bay last year, playing mostly on special teams and recording four tackles. A ex- undrafted free agent of the Chicago Bears after starring collegiately at North Carolina State, Wilson joined the Buccaneers last season.

The injury to Pierre-Paul is believed to be serious enough that it could force him to miss regular-season games for the Giants.
