“We need to guard against them and close them down if necessary, ” he added.
Controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik on Saturday sought support from the Muslim community against what he called was a “media trial” over allegedly provocative statements promoting militant views that have triggered calls for his arrest.
The advisory from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to the states follows the government’s announcement that an investigation is being carried out into all matters concerning controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik’s speeches on “Peace TV”.
Defending his act, Digvijay Singh has said that if there is any evidence against the preacher, then the Indian and Bangladeshi governments should take action against him.
The activities of Naik’s Mumbai-based Islamic Research Foundation are also under the scanner of the Indian Home Ministry amid allegations that funds received by the organisation from overseas had been spent on political activities and inspiring people towards radical views.
Condemning the terror attack that took place earlier today leaving four people dead at Kishoreganj in Dhaka, Naidu said that the need of the hour for the world is to unite and not only condemn but contain terrorism.
Mumbai-based Zakir Naik has come under the scanner after it was reported that his speeches have inspired some of the Dhaka cafe attackers.
Meanwhile, in a bid to defend himself for having share the stage with Naik in a 2012 event, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Friday slammed the Home Minister for meeting Malegaon blast accused Sadhvi Pragya Thakur. Bangladesh industries minister Amir Hossain Amu said, “He (Naik) has connections with Lashkar-e-Taiba and other terror organisations of Pakistan. for this reason countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, America have named it (the channel)”.
