Shringla said that Prime Minister Hasina met with the families of all victims.
She declared two days of mourning as she addressed the nation on television.
Police believe that Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), an outlawed domestic group that has pledged allegiance to ISIL, played a significant role in organising the band of privileged, educated young attackers.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry called Prime Minister Hasina Sunday to express condolences and offer support.
“The secretary (Kerry) encouraged the government of Bangladesh to conduct its investigation in accordance with the highest global standards and offered immediate assistance from US law enforcement, including the FBI”, US state department spokesman John Kirby said in a statement. He also offered assistance from USA law enforcement, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
“They have no connections with the ISIS”.
The government has long insisted IS has no presence in the country.
Police named five men as attackers in a case filed on Tuesday to allow them to launch official investigations, including questioning families of the militants for clues as to what turned them into killers. Nine Italians, seven Japanese, four Bangladeshis, one American and an Indian died in the terror strike.
AQIS was officially designated a foreign terrorist organization by the United States the day before the Dhaka attack.
In addition to 20 people, two senior police officers-Banani Police Station officer-in-charge Salauddin Ahmed Khan and Detective Branch Assistant Commissioner Robiul Islam were killed, while trying to rescue the hostages. More than 100 commandos stormed the restaurant almost 10 hours after the siege began, under an operation code-named “Thunderbolt”.
Friday’s Dhaka attack claimed 22 lives, including two policemen.
The man’s friends and police said one of the attackers was a student in the same department at the university where the man taught.
He said Italian citizens were with Bangladeshis during their struggle for independence in 1971.
One of the six men killed by security forces in deadly Dhaka restaurant siege might have been kitchen staff, police say.
Most of those killed were found with their throats slit.
The attack comes after a spate of murders of secular bloggers, gay activists, academics and members of religious minorities, blamed on Islamist militants.
Officials denied the men were linked to Islamic State (Isil), despite claims by the extremists of links to the attacks.

Meanwhile, an unnamed US official suggested to CNN while the attack was ongoing that the culprits may be linked to al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), which is known to operate in Bangladesh.
