Bank Holiday Weather: Are you ready for some serious summer sunshine?

While the United Kingdom is poised for plenty of dry and fine weather over north-western areas during the long weekend, forecasters have predicted a glorious period of early summer weather for the west of Scotland across next week as well.

And while things are looking good for most of us on Sunday, with only isolated showers in some areas, Monday could be a washout in the East.

“Overall it’s not going to be too bad, but there will be no blazing sunshine and everyone should watch out for the showers which are characteristic for this time of year”.

The Met Office are forecasting downpours by Monday as we get into the half-term holidays.

‘Sunday will be a sunny day nearly everywhere, with perhaps a bit of cloud in the north east and Scotland.

But he did warn of the chance of a few locally heavy showers, telling the Telegraph: “On Sunday there will be high teens across the bulk of the United Kingdom and it will be generally dry for most but there could be showers around, though they won’t be prolonged”.

Temperatures could reach a high of 20 in London and the south and 18-19 further north.

The Met Office has urged people living in eastern Britain to make the most of any good weather tomorrow and Sunday.

This week started off reasonably enough with plenty of sunny spells and some warm temperatures, however from Tuesday night onwards we saw some cooler, cloudier and then wet weather move in.

‘There are indications that there could be quite heavy bursts of rain in that system.

“However there will be the risk of some unsettled weather and thundery showers in places”.

It wouldn’t be Ireland if there wasn’t a few showers (sorry – just a few though, promise) but the next few days look set to be mostly dry and sunny.
