A 70-year-old Kansas man who’s accused of robbing a bank reportedly told arresting authorities that he’d rather be in jail than living with his wife.

The teller obliged, giving Ripple an undisclosed amount of cash, the paper said.

Lawrence John Ripple was charged in federal court with robbing the Bank of Labor in Kansas City on Friday.

Ripple notified a bank security guard that he was the guy they were looking for.

After the teller complied and handed it over, Ripple walked over to a chair in the bank’s lobby and sat down.

He was taken into custody and the money was returned to the bank.

As just about every married man reading this article will tell you, there are times when you’d rather be anywhere, anywhere at all, instead of home with your wife.

“During the post Miranda interview, Ripple relayed that he and his wife had an argument at home and Ripple no longer wanted to be in the situation”.

Officers arrived quickly. An FBI agent wrote in the affidavit that Ripple had earlier been arguing with his wife. Efforts to reach Ripple’s wife were not immediately successful.
