Barack Obama Summer Playlist: Chance The Rapper, D’Angelo, Leon Bridges Featured
And now Australian singer Courtney Barnett can count U.S. President Barack Obama among her fans, as he included one of her songs on his summer playlist. “What’s everybody listening to?”

The playlist is split into “daytime” and “nighttime” editions.
Since we launched in 2015, the White House has also used Spotify to share the First Lady’s girl-power picks for National Day of the Girl and holiday playlists curated by the Obamas and the Bidens.
Classics from artists like Prince, Aretha Franklin, and Janet Jackson meet newer singles from Chance The Rapper and D’Angelo on this year’s 39-track group of jams.
While most of Obama´s musical choices steered clear of politics, an exception was “Forever Begins” by the Chicago rapper Common, a track produced by Kanye West that delves into the civil rights struggle and touches on gun violence.
Kiwi musician Gin Wigmore has been included on President Obama’s summer playlist. It might be a bit risqué for a president to endorse a song called “Cocaine Hurricane”, but we’re pretty sure Obama would be doing the “da-dat-da-da-da-da-dat-da” sing-alongs by the end.
In the past, Obama has shared playlists with the public when he was running for election in 2008, when he was seeking reelection in 2012 and when he was being inaugurated for his second term in office.
President Obama delivers a statement on Libya in the East Room of the White House. In the daytime category, there’s “So Ambitious” from Jay-Z and Pharrell and “The Man” from Aloe Blacc.
Sara Bareilles performs at the White House. Judging from his playlists, he is getting into more indie rock.
Of course, the featured artists weren’t the only ones excited by Obama’s summer playlist.

It’s clear that the Obama family has plenty to celebrate during their last summer in the White House, and hopefully we’ll even get a fall playlist or two before inauguration.
