Barbara Boxer is no fan of the Cruz-Fiorina ticket
Ose asked of the Fiorina pick. That makes her useful in terms of understanding the contours of a statewide campaign and television markets but hardly a rainmaker in terms of delegate accumulation. But the state is so overwhelmingly Democratic that no Republican was likely to win.

Fiorina frequently sparred with Trump during the primary. She crushed the more moderate candidate, Campbell, defeating him in 48 of California’s current 53 congressional districts, with an average margin of victory of more than 40 percentage points.
In his speech, Cruz said Fiorina, like himself, has endured hardship, which is a necessary quality for anyone seeking leadership.
Third, by selecting Fiorina, Cruz is doubling down on a strategy that didn’t work for John McCain in 2008.
With Fiorina, Cruz is “appealing to the base with a traditional very conservative Republican”, said Larry Gerston, a political-science professor emeritus at San Jose State.
Cruz staffers passed freshly printed “Cruz-Fiorina ’16” posters among the crowd, and “Cruz-Fiorina ’16” displayed on the projector screens above the stage.
From a tactical point of view, it expands Cruz’s bandwidth.
Trump responded to the news of Fiorina’s selection in typical fashion – using a tweet, which featured a clip of Fiorina criticizing Cruz on CNN earlier this year.
Yet less than 24 hours later, the senator from Texas did something normally reserved for presumptive nominees rather than struggling underdogs: He announced a vice presidential running mate. “She did do fairly well against Boxer, for example, in the Central Valley and the inland areas when she ran for Senate….” “Oh, look, one could go back and second-guess decisions that are hard decisions to make”, said Cruz of Reagan’s failed attempt to unite the Republican party.
“But with Cruz”, DiCamillo said, “he’s trying to pull out all the stops”.
Donald Trump on Wednesday night blasted Texas Sen.
“I think it’s a bad idea”, he said.
“She understands this is a unsafe world and in naming her as my vice presidential nominee, I am also telling you that she is someone you can be confident in”, Cruz said. “They’re bringing her in to run as a surrogate, to hopefully attract women or soften Cruz with women”. Barbara Boxer took to Twitter to rip the pair, calling them “mean” and “meaner”.
Cruz listed the qualities he looked for in a running mate, citing the need for someone with “knowledge”, “judgment” and “character”. He wants to throw people out of the country and she threw thousands of jobs out of the country. “They are the flawless duo”.
Fiorina’s business career, however, is not without controversy: she was forced to resing amid weak earnings in 2005, and some 30,000 people had been fired during her six-year tenure. “I just don’t like to talk about it right now”, he said.
Saenz says the event will be open to the public and free, but tickets must be obtained through a website called “Eventbrite”.

He then introduced “the next Vice President of the United States” Carly Fiorina, who walked on to Aaron Tippin’s “Where the Stars and Stripes and Eagles Fly”.
