Barbara Bush campaigns for son Jeb in NH
Former President George W. Bush, Jeb’s brother, is planning to campaign publicly soon for Jeb in SC where the former commander in chief’s support for the military has strong resonance.

“He’s going to campaign for me in SC – I’m excited about that”, the Republican candidate said on Morning Joe.
Bush has hovered around 10 percent in New Hampshire polls, in a clump alongside fellow governors John Kasich and Chris Christie, as well as Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
At the beginning of this campaign cycle, Jeb! famously refused to capitalize on his family’s political dynasty (or tie himself to his unpopular brother’s legacy), declaring, “I am my own man”.
They said senior aides to Bush held conference calls for donors on Tuesday to reassure them, offering an upbeat message about Bush’s finances and ground game in New Hampshire and a determination to press on. And do you go on a long summer brake?
But for his part, Jeb Bush has increasingly been embracing his family name on the campaign trail in recent weeks.
At least one Bush backer, Nevada assemblyman David Gardner, has publicly switched his endorsement to Rubio. I even found people who perfectly fit my narrative – that they liked the Christies and the Kasichs, but Rubio was their guy. Mother and former first lady Barbara Bush appeared with the former Florida governor in New Hampshire earlier this week. From a broader perspective, the growing willingness of the remaining male candidates to savagely attack Hillary Clinton (Chris Christie keeps threatening to prosecute her, and more recently said he’d “beat her rear end” in a general-election debate) makes her unnecessary as the designated non-piggie Hillary-basher. “But I have to choose between the right of a person to do what they want with their body and the right of an unborn child to live”.
Bush was met with silence, before he pleaded with the crowd.
The Bush family is throwing its weight behind Jeb Bush in the race for the White House – and former President George W. Bush is the latest family member to join the ranks.
U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gives two thumbs up as he takes the stage for a campaign rally in Portsmouth, New Hampshire February 4, 2016.
So why all this animus expended on an alleged lightweight who finished third in Iowa, and whom polls suggest might finish second and possibly third again in New Hampshire?
So basically, Jeb has brought in his mom to stand up to the schoolyard bully for him – but she also says that she won’t actually do it directly.
“I’m not here to defend his experience, but you recommended him for VP”, Baier said. Trump will come out, Cruz will come out, Rubio will come out, probably Bush, and then maybe one or two others.
“The first job of the president is to protect America”, Bush (the dumb one) says in the spot.

Barbara Bush also seemed caught off guard by her sudden involvement in her son’s sinking campaign.
