Barbra Streisand Back in the Director’s Chair for “Catherine the Great”

No word yet on whether she’ll appear in the Catherine the Great project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s plot follows “a young, sensual Catherine trapped in an abusive marriage” who “utilizes her intelligence, fortitude and passion to rise to power”.

Babs is back in the director’s chair: EW has confirmed that Barbra Streisand is set to direct Catherine the Great, a feature biopic about the 18th-century Russian empress.

The project will mark Streisand’s first film directing project since “The Mirror Has Two Faces” in 1996.

“What’s wrong with bossy?” She was first woman to direct, write, produce and star in a major studio film. It also won the Oscar for Best Music, Original Song Score and Its Adaptation or Best Adaptation Score in 1984, and was nominated for four Oscars, including Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Amy Irving.

In doing so, Barbra has broken the ice in what has been and still is considered a man’s club.

Barbra successes and contributions earned her the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which was presented to her by US President Barack Obama during a ceremony at The White House in Washington D.C. on November 24.
