Barbra Streisand just extended her Billboard record of longest span between #1 albums as news comes that “Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway”, is to top this week’s chart.

While critics may sneer, youth-oriented releases can only look on with envy at not just the sales but the way Streisand’s audience – older, wealthier and stuck fast to their idol – is prepared to buy the more expensive and lucrative (for labels and artists) physical albums.

Streisand and Spears pushed last week’s chart-topper Frank Ocean down into the third spot after his long-awaited album Blonde went straight to number one.

Musical artist and icon, Barbra Streisand, 74, has racked up her 11th number one album with Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway. Among women, the “Woman in Love” hitmaker outpaces Madonna who scored eight No. 1 albums on the chart.

“Encore” is a follow-up to Streisand’s 2014 smash hit “Partners”, which saw her sing with a dozen men including Blake Shelton, Michael Buble and Elvis Presley. Spears is still yet to score a United Kingdom number one album. Drake was in fourth place with his album, Views, which sold 72,000 units.

If Jamie T succeeds, however, it would be his first chart-topper. Despite expiring as a band 46 years ago and never having recorded a duets album. Streisand also matched Bruce Springsteen’s mark of 11 Number One albums to place third on the overall list behind Jay Z (13 Number Ones) and the Beatles (19 times atop the charts), Billboard reports. Finally, coming in at number ten, was the album Blurryface, by Twenty One Pilots, selling 30,000 total units.
