Unfortunately, the Barcelona media team didn’t get the memo and awkwardly featured a competition on their website which had a signed Alcacer shirt as a prize. The versatile forward is now on worldwide duty with the Spain Under-21 squad and will arrive in Valencia next week but met with the club’s Sporting Director Suso García Pitarch today who presented him with his new shirt. Barcelona manager Luis Enrique looked to have a big faith in his future after the club signed him on a new deal until 2019, setting his release clause at €60m (£51.7m, $67.7m). I am here to provide hard work, humility and professionalism. I want to offer my grain of sand by doing good things at Barca.

“We’ll see what will happen in the coming days, you already know the news”.

The 23-year-old has established himself as an important part of Valencia’s squad, and last season, he notched 13 goals and seven assists in La Liga, despite Los Che enduring a disappointing campaign.

He is the Catalan club’s sixth singing of the summer following the arrivals of Jasper Cillessen, Denis Suarez, Lucas Digne, Samuel Umtiti and Andre Gomes.

Munir will wear the number 9 shirt vacated by Paco Alcacer and will give Ayestarán more attacking options; he can play both out wide and through the middle.

He comes with a rich scoring pedigree, having netted 42 goals in 64 matches for Valencia’s B side before graduating to the senior team, where his record was 30 goals in 90 matches.
