Barcelona eyeing up Diego Costa move?

Diego Costa is set to escape punishment for a kick he aimed at Martin Skrtel during Chelsea’s defeat at home to Liverpool.

Although referee Mark Clattenburg gave a foul for Costa’s trip, he didn’t take any action for the kick – although it is not yet clear if that is because he didn’t see it or didn’t deem it worthy of extra attention.

Referee Mark Clattenburg took no action at the time but it seems inevitable the FA will investigate.

Costa and Skrtel have had several heated battles – dating back to when Slovakia beat Spain in a Euro 2016 qualifier in October 2014.

Costa was retrospectively banned for three games earlier this season after being caught putting an arm in the face of Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny by television cameras.

There was a flashpoint between the opposing players during the game at Stamford Bridge over the weekend, where Costa appeared to kick out at Skrtel, but Klopp has dismissed them as nothing serious despite the history between the two players.

This latest incident would see him get a four-match ban – three for the challenge and an additional one because of his previous conviction.

Former ref Howard Webb told BT Sport: “They [The FA] will have a look. But it is a clear red card and Diego Costa is a lucky boy on that occasion”.
