Samuel Umtiti, Barcelona’s third summer signing, was presented by the club on Friday afternoon.

Umtiti admitted that he was reduced to tears when it became clear he would have the opportunity to join Barcelona.

The 22-year-old centre back, who had a fine season with Lyon, earned his first France cap in their 5-2 Euro 2016 quarter-final triumph over Iceland.

“Even if it’s a happy day for me, I’m full of sadness”, Umtiti said at a press conference, just a day after Thursday’s truck attack on the French riviera city, which killed at least 84 people.

Umtiti targeted winning every possible trophy during his stay at Barca and is in the early stages of learning the Catalan language after signing a five-year deal.

“There were a lot of victims, I’m very sad for all the families who were affected by what happened yesterday”.

The player on Friday said he wanted to come to the club, which he followed for many years, reports Efe.

‘I like Barcelona’s mentality and their style of play.

“We always keep in mind that players with potential may cost a little more those with experience, but I repeat we have a great team and must value [our existing players]”. “I’ve come to the best club in the world and I hope to win everything here”. “But I have lofty ambitions, I don’t want to hide, I’m a player, I’m a competitor”. I will work hard and show that I have the quality to help the club, I know there a good players in my position.
