The Catalan side won the treble last season and now have a six-point lead over Real Madrid in the league following a four-goal Clasico win.
“Teams work in cycles, no-one is going to win every title. This is our moment and let’s hope it continues as long as possible”, Enrique told reporters. “You have to be prepared for both the praise and the criticism because, like I said, football is always changing”, the 29-year-old defender said.
Holders Barcelona will be not be taking Wednesday’s Copa del Rey clash lightly, after only managing a draw in the first leg against Villanovense.
Villanovense have lost all five of the matches they have played since holding Barcelona to a draw at the Estadio Romero Cuerda.
“We have an important month coming up, with big games in La Liga, the Club World Cup and the Copa del Rey”.
Luis Enrique, who must include seven first-team regulars as part of the tournament’s regulations, has warned his players against complacency.
Barcelona B squad players Sergi Samper, Gerard Gumbau and Aitor Cantalapiedra joined in with first-team training ahead of the cup tie. If we have a bad day we could get knocked out.
A 2-1 loss to Cartagena on Saturday was their fifth in succession since playing Barcelona and leaves Julio Cobos Moreno’s team mired in Segunda B Group 4 relegation trouble.
“We will be looking at certain aspects of our game”.
