Barclays said it is recovering from tech glitches, after customers reported difficulties accessing money in their accounts, and in making payments.
Barclays said that it had fixed the issue on Sunday afternoon although it said the services were staggered, meaning a few customers’ had their problems solved earlier than others.
It added: “If you need to check your accounts, please use our banking apps and online banking services, these are both running smoothly”.
Barclays said a few of its network systems had gone down, in addition to scheduled maintenance planned around the clocks going back, but everything was now back up and running.
Barclays declined to reveal the cause of the problem or how many people were affected, but a number of the bank’s systems appeared to have been hit.
A Barclays spokesperson said that a few customers complained that they were unable to withdraw cash from ATMs. A spokesman said that because the banks’ computers were down staff in the call centres were unable to access personal details.
And in April, Royal Bank of Scotland’s systems failed and it later emerged 600,000 customers were hit.
