Barnett Finishes Arlovski at UFN 93

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to Germany on Saturday, although they landed in a new city, Hamburg.

“I took a bad loss”, Bader said in the cage after the win on Saturday. But that pace did not last long; Arlovski and Barnett’s chins both held up during their early wild exchange and they subsequently slowed down rapidly in the second round.

Latifi went flying backwards as he crashed to the canvas thanks to the force from Bader’s knee and the fight was stopped immediately from the vicious knockout.

“You feel like you can take on the world and at the minute I’m in a really good place with my camp and stuff like that”.

After spending most of past year sidelined with an injury, Nick Hein earned a strong unanimous decision victory over South Korean lightweight Tae Hyun Bang, an opponent who was also coming off a lengthy layoff.

It is hard for any fighter to get back on his feet after a loss, more so for Arlovski, who was just fingertips away from getting a title shot. “I’m just staying focused and getting that “W” and getting back to winning again”.

“I just went in there with a pitbull and had him try to ravage me”, Barnett said. Gustafsson always delivers in the octagon and was given a winnable fight over the weekend to get back in the win column after losing two in a row to Johnson and Cormier. Gustaffson will not have a huge reach advantage in this fight, but he is the better striker and he uses those strikes to get a decision win.

During that round, Arlovski, who had seemingly stunned Barnett a bit following his flurry of punches, accidentally poked his opponent in the eye.

Blachowicz was able to give Gustafsson trouble in the standup, but couldn’t offer much resistance to his takedown attempts or mount much offense from his back.

However, Wallhead thinks his maturity will give him the edge over the young gun and is not too concerned with whatever the German can throw at him despite facing him on his home turf. He was exhausted, weary and mostly relieved to be back and back to winnings ways in the UFC.

In a solid women’s bantamweight title, Ashlee Evans-Smith managed to find the late finish against Veronica Macedo.

With the defeat, Mr. Arlovski dropped his third straight match and now sports a record of 25-13. It’s also interesting to note that as revered as Barnett’s submission game is, this was his first victory by tapout since January 2013 when he was still a member of Strikeforce. “There’s only one. I wanted to have this fight before there was no possibility of it happening”.
