Barrett to start after one-game suspension

Barrett was issued a misdemeanor ticket at a sobriety checkpoint October 31 near the Ohio State campus.

The quarterback appears to cooperate with police, but he does name-drop his position on the team.

Part of the video is muffled, but per TMZ’s report, Barrett indicates that he is “the quarterback for Ohio State” and asks, “Officer, there’s nothing you can do?”

The officer calmly informs Barrett that he’s already doing him a favor by not putting him in jail.

Later, after he’s been arrested and had handcuffs placed on him, Barrett says, “Officer, there is nothing you can do?”

Earlier on the night of his arrest, Barrett was relaxing with friends and made a decision to drive home a friend who was “heavily intoxicated”, according to Barrett’s attorney, Phil Templeton.

Despite going back to Barrett after his one game suspension, Meyer knows this situation isn’t easy.

His blood-alcohol concentration registered at 0.099 – above the 0.08 limit for drivers of legal drinking age and the 0.02 limit in OH for those under 21. He must also complete a three-day alcohol education program.

Barrett, 20, was suspended for last Saturday’s game against Minnesota. “It’s not like, ‘Boy, he’s working much harder this week.’ He’s a professional who’s going to work to play quarterback for Ohio State”. Jones started in his place, accounting for more than 250 total yards and protecting the team’s undefeated record.

While Ohio State (9-0, 5-0 Big Ten, No. 3 CFP) totaled 376 yards, Jones did not shine. Meyer said Monday that Barrett is considered the starter heading into this Saturday’s game at IL. “He’s a kid that’s human and I still have these conversations with him”.
