Train services in and out of Lincoln Central Station to Grimsby, Market Rasen and Leicester are being affected by a bridge collapse in a neighbouring county.
Network Rail has been working to clear the route but said that it did not expect it to reopen quickly.
The incident, which happened at Barrow upon Soar, near Loughborough in Leicestershire, means no direct trains are operating between London St Pancras and stations north of Leicester, including Sheffield and Nottingham.
The section of roadway on one side of the bridge is reported to have been sinking for a while, and the road concerned was due to be closed for repairs.
It has resulted in services being cancelled or delayed and passengers being advised to use replacement buses to get to their destinations.
East Midlands Trains said that Network Rail engineers have worked through the night to try to remove debris from the line, but that the line is still not expected to open today.
A spokesman said: “We will continue to work through the night to fix the damage to the track”.
