Basketball: Bulls beat Spurs, Warriors remain ideal
The reigning National Basketball Association champion Golden State Warriors are rolling like a well-oiled machine, extending their record setting start with a 135-116 rout of the host Phoenix Suns on Friday night.

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors are looking to improve their 18-0 record and extend their 23-game winning streak in the regular season on Monday against the Utah Jazz on Monday.
“This ranks up there. We have had some lopsided victories, too”, said Curry, whose team also beat the Brooklyn Nets in overtime and rallied from a 23-point deficit against the Los Angeles Clippers.
“What gets lost in the record are the tough games that we have had to claw our way out of”. The Warriors are getting 81.6 points from their starters and have topped 100 points in every game this year.
“Yeah, it was fun”.
The Warriors got the win, but the Jazz demonstrated that they are a young team on the rise. Rudy Gobert tops in rebounds with 10.8 and in blocks with 2.8 per game.
The Rockets got back into the game by constantly intentionally fouling Drummond – he went 4 for 18 from the line – but were never within one possession.
Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard missed a three-pointer with four seconds left and guard Tony Parker’s last-gasp three-point attempt from the corner was partially blocked by Bulls guard Derrick Rose to end the game. “We had a chance”.
The biggest advantage the Warriors would have in a playoff series against the Jazz would be Utah’s inability to go small. Klay Thompson had 15 points, Marreese Speights 13 and Festus Ezeli 11 with 11 rebounds.
A pair of Favors free throws tied it at 101.
Again, Utah’s lead was short-lived. “So coach (Quin Snyder) has faith in us to put the ball in our hands and make plays for ourselves and others, and that’s what we did”. “If we’re trying to do that, I think by and large we’ll be successful the majority of the time, and then shots either fall or they don’t”. In the first half, Golden State shot 66 percent overall but was even better from 3-point range at 75 percent.
Conversely, the Jazz remain in Utah for their longest homestand of the season, a four-game stay. The Jazz will take on the Orlando Magic and Pacers at home in their next two games. The Knicks have opened above expectations at 8-10, as the team did not win its sixth game until January last season.
NOTES: The Jazz assigned C Tibor Pleiss, a 7-foot-3 German, to their D-League affiliate, the Idaho Stampede. “They don’t shy away from it, and it’s not just Steph”. Frankly, it’s possible to argue that the Jazz were the better team in this one and would have won if not for a torrid shooting streak for end-of-bench shooter Ian Clark (4-of-5 on threes in six minutes) and Shaun Livington’s first three as a Warrior. “I definitely feel like I’m a better player than I was last year, more efficient”, he added, “We, as a team, are definitely better than we were last year, so we’re just trying to manage that for 66 more games and the rest of that will take care of itself”. “No, he was great”.

If you can’t get the win, at least get the highlight.
