The global friendly against Finland this evening will be my last match for Germany.

Max Meyer stole the show in Bastian Schweinsteiger’s final global appearance with his first Germany goal and an eye-catching performance in a 2-0 friendly win against Finland.
“In the national team, we are in the fortunate position that we have several leading players who fit the format and a captain’s profile”, said Loew, who has been Germany’s boss for the last decade.
Bastian Schweinsteiger will wear the Germany jersey one last time on Wednesday, insisting he has not given up on his dream of playing for Manchester United despite Jose Mourinho’s snub.
“It meant so much to me and I feel a deep gratitude”.
“I just asked the national team coach to not consider me for future call-ups for the German national team, because I want to end my worldwide career”, he wrote on social media on July 29th.
The 32-year-old will bring an end to his global playing career after participating in seven major tournaments and winning the 2014 World Cup with Germany.
Schweinsteiger was handed a three-year contract at the club on signing from Bayern Munich last summer but has struggled to make an impression at Manchester United.
A large proportion of the United squad will be away with their respective national teams over the next week. The experinced midfielder was left in tears as he plays his final worldwide game for his nation.
Having starred for Germany in their 2014 World Cup win, Schweinsteiger exits global football as one of the greats.
Leaving the match in the 67th minute, Schweinsteiger received another standing ovation. I don’t think of planning ahead, I like to live and enjoy the moment.
Mats Hummels had been touted as his successor, but coach Joachim Low has opted for 30-year-old Neuer.
The match was played at a leisurely pace, with Germany’s goals coming in the second half. “He and Lukas Podolski, who we mustn’t forget either, had a great deal of positive energy all the time”. I know what his goals are but I also know what I want.
