Batang Gilas’ Mamuyac blocks Steph Curry’s potential game victor

During his stop in Taipei, he played an exhibition contest and, evidently, had the ball with the clock ticking down, and the game on the line, while being covered by high schooler, Gian Mamuyac.

Curry, no doubt impressed that the 17-year-old succeeded where countless National Basketball Association stars had failed, could be seen congratulating Mamuyac.

He’s the unanimous NBA MVP, but Stephen Curry has been brought back to earth.

Though his team ultimately lost the match, after Curry’s attempted three-point shot was blocked by a young high school player, the Golden State Warriors star was still extremely impressed by the enthusiasm of his Taiwanese fans and pledged to make a return visit to the island. Curry, gracious and humble, was nothing but the person we’ve been accustomed to seeing the past few years, dapping the kid up while sporting a giant grin.

Aside from the global recognition, Mamuyac was named MVP of the game and reportedly earned himself an invite to Curry’s SC30 Basketball Camp in the USA.

Fortunately for Curry, he has the opportunity to get the taste of being swatted out of his mouth when his Warriors kick off their regular season campaign against the San Antonio Spurs Oct. 25.
