Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer Rocksteady Games have released a patch for the PC version of “Batman: Arkham Knight“.

Batman: Arkham Knight picks up roughly nine months after the events of Arkham City.

Nevertheless, there are reports that the “Batman: Arkham Knight” Limited Edition version has been deferred across a number of game retailers. Sadly, the Arkham Knight mystery kind of fizzles out due to the identity being bleedingly obvious before even getting into the story.

But aside from the dire story, controlling Batman is still great. It borrows some elements from the recent movies, and also from some of the famous comic books too.

Batman Arkham Knight does not have very many graphic settings available to customize. If you manage to sneak up on a group of foes unawares, you can press a button and trigger a cinematic sequence in which Batman dispatches them all in stylish slo-mo action. For the most part, minus the PS4 leaderboards being broken, the console versions of the game have released without a hitch, enjoying substantial acclaim across the board.

Sometimes you do detective stuff. Scarecrow is also coordinating chaos with other members of Batman’s rouges’ gallery, including repeat offenders Riddler, Two-Face and Penguin and newbies like Man-Bat and Firefly. Admit it, you’re skipping through more cutscenes than you care to admit, but there’s something different about the Arkham games. You can see so much soaring high above the city that you’ll likely find yourself using this as your primary method of long-distance travel, despite the addition of a drivable Batmobile.

As for the core gameplay in Batman: Arkham Knight, not a lot has changed but this is still a good thing. Speaking of convenient, these enemy vehicles are unmanned drones making it easy for Batman to just blow them all up because of his “no killing” rule. The levels are designed perfectly for Batman to hide under vents or on top of gargoyle statues.

It’s nearly like the developers, in their efforts to give us a better video game, forgot to give us a better Batman game.

The fighting system in the Arkham series, in particular, is what its biggest in-game legacy might be. Whether you’re hallucinating to some fear toxin, coming face-to-face with Ra’s al Ghul or reliving the night Bruce Wayne’s parents were murdered, the stories have always been just as important as the boss battles and gameplay. It keeps him in a tight (but ever-growing) area, first within Arkham Asylum proper, then with Arkham City’ isolated boundaries of the larger dark urban sprawl, and now, through Gotham City as a whole.

Ultimately, Arkham Knight offers a fitting conclusion featuring a diverse range of missions and side quests which pay fan service to Batman’s graphic novel origins. Apart from a minor issue with leaderboard scores, I didn’t encounter any huge glitches and bugs throughout my playthrough. It was so bad, sales for the game had to be halted until Fall 2015. If that is the case hopefully the patch will alleviate the issues to some extent.

It is hardly common to withdraw a video game from sale especially one with the calibre of Arkham Knight – the biggest video game launch sale of 2015 in the UK
