‘Batman’ movie may take place in Arkham asylum

Setting a Batman film in Arkham gives the filmmakers a ideal excuse to showcase multiple villains, and we all know that the Dark Knight has the best rogues gallery in comics.

In line with one of the most lucrative video game franchises in recent memory, Ben Affleck’s Batman film will reportedly center on Arkham Asylum, an institution for the criminally-insane that has been featured in numerous other-media adaptations.

Batman-On-Film stresses that this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt and that none of the site’s sources know for how long or why Batman would be in Arkham, where some of Gotham’s most risky criminals are held.

The rumour gels well with another rumour that the coming film will be loaded with villains.

In the meantime, Affleck’s Batman features in Suicide Squad, which is due out August 5.

There’s also the possibility that BOF is referring to the Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on a Serious Earth graphic novel by Grant Morrison.

While Geoff Johns and Ben Affleck are working extensively on the script, it’s natural for fans to expect some scoop. Affleck has said that his Batman movie will borrow elements from previous Batman stories, but that he’ll be telling an original story.
