Batman TV star Yvonne Craig has died aged 78
Not long after her own attempt at a TV pilot went unsold, Craig was contacted again by its producer, William Dozier, but this time it was to interview for an important role on his far more lucrative project, the hit series Batman.

The actress and dancer had been battling breast cancer for two years, her family said in a statement posted on her website. Unfortunately just as Batgirl learned that new bad guys emerge after the removal of others, Yvonne discovered that the cancer had metastasized to her liver late a year ago. She’s also recognized for enjoying the smoothness “Marta” within Star Trek’s third-season.
According to her obituary, Craig spent many years in the film and television industry and was in two movies with Elvis Presley.
Despite her many successes, Yvonne Craig embraced her icon status for her performance as Batgirl, attending comic-con panels and celebrating her Batman fan base.
Later in life, Craig worked as a real estate broker before going into the prepaid phone card business and then writing a book in 2000 titled, “From Ballet to the Batcave and Beyond“.
In 2009, she appeared in Nickelodeon’s Olivia cartoon series, voicing the grandmother. But her most memorable roles would be in Batman and Star Trek.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Aldrich, her sister Meridel Carson and nephews Christopher and Todd Carson.
