The motive of the latest police killing remains unclear as investigation is going on.
A website named “convoswithcosmo” that features self-help, health and relationship advice was owned by a Gavin Long at a Kansas City address, according to online records.
CBS reports that Long is African American although that has not been confirmed by the authorities. Jackson had been working long hours with the protests over Sterling’s death but the strain did not show, Jordan said.
In another tweet, posted shortly before, he wrote: “Don’t let someone get comfortable with disrespecting you”.
But one of the officers killed by Long – Montrell Jackson – was black.
Speaking on the front lawn of Mr Jackson’s house in the rural Livingston Parish area of Baton Rouge, Mr Jordan said he heard about his death while at church on Sunday morning. A spokeswoman for the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks extremist groups, said she had no information about that. “We will get through this together as a family and as a community”.
At 8:40 a.m. Sunday, police officers at a convenience store saw the shooter.
The suspect was dressed in black fatigues and a mask, and there were reports that he was wearing body armour.
Three officers are feared dead after a shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, officials said.
The Louisiana State Police says two “persons of interests” detained in connection with the deadly shooting of police officers in Baton Rouge have been released.
Two of the officers have died, Baton Rouge’s chief administrative officer told the Advocate Newspaper. He says they were rushed to a local hospital.
The other deceased victims have been identified as another officer and a sheriff’s deputy.
When police arrived, the shooting began.
It’s been an emotionally charged few days across the country because of the protests stemming from the Alton Sterling shooting, and the ambush on Dallas police officers where a sniper killed five officers.
