Bautista was batting.230 with 12 HR and 41 RBI before the injury.

Roberto Osuna replaced Schultz and got two outs for his 21st save.

Pillar, who had three of the Blue Jays’ nine hits, doubled home Tulowitzki in the eighth inning.

TORONTO (AP) – Aaron Sanchez pitched seven shutout innings to win his 10th consecutive decision, Kevin Pillar had three hits and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the San Diego Padres 4-2 on Monday night.

Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista was activated off the 15-day disabled list prior to Monday’s home game against the San Diego Padres. He will likely slot into the leadoff spot again but will probably DH right away rather than play the field.

Bautista had not played since June 16, when he hurt his right big toe trying to field a fly ball in Philadelphia.

Padres: RHP Jose Dominguez stayed in the game after being hit on the left forearm by a line drive off the bat of Devon Travis, the first batter he faced after coming on in the seventh.

Catcher Russell Martin, who missed the past three games with a sore left knee, is also back in the lineup as the Blue Jays welcome the Padres to Toronto for the first time.

The first two hits off Sanchez were infield singles by Solarte in the first and by Dickerson in the fourth. He is 0-2 in two starts against AL opponents this season.
