Battle brewing between Ted Cruz, Donald Trump
But Trump says he doesn’t expect that will last and has vowed to hit back hard if Cruz comes after him. He’s repeatedly criticized the Affordable Healthcare Act, and markets himself as a Republican with conservative and Christian values who would be tough on terrorism. “And I think in that is a question in that is a challenging question for both of them”.

However, with Cruz making a run at Trump in the polls, it looks as though The Donald may be getting ready to use an ill-considered comment the Texas senator made in a private meeting with supporters as an excuse to go on the attack.
But Cruz has passed Trump in a Monmouth University poll released earlier this week. At the event, Cruz challenged Donald Trump’s and Ben Carson’s state of mind as president and questioned their ability to effectively deal with critical issues. One can imagine Trump ripping Cruz for kowtowing to big donors (the billionaire loves telling voters that he’s self-funding, even though he really isn’t), taking a potshot at Cruz’s judgment over a “failed shutdown” or some such – and maybe asking why straight-talkin’ Cruz would be willing to attack him behind closed doors while raising cash, but not in front of the cameras. At what point does Cruz decide he has no choice but to prosecute a case against Trump?
But the campaign is also preparing for the idea that Trump may pounce if Cruz starts to seriously threaten Trump’s front-runner status. Soon after the Times published its story, the Cruz marketing crusade blasted it as “misleading”. Heidi Cruz said legal scholars have determined that her husband is a natural-born citizen and able to be president because his mother was born in the United States. THE WEEKLY STANDARD has asked the Cruz campaign to explain but has not yet received a response. In a CBS/New York Times poll, 35% support the media mogul nationally with 16% favoring Cruz.
He added, “I believe gravity will bring both of those campaigns down” and “the lion’s share of their supporters come to us”. “People are looking for who is prepared to be a commander in chief”.
On the topic of Trump and Carson, he said, “Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button?”
The relationship between Cruz and Trump has been chummy, nearly strangely so for two men vying to be the commander-in-chief. He later posted a message about Cruz’s remarks.
“I’m not going to comment at what I may or may not have said at a private fundraiser”, Cruz said. And every one who is running is being assessed by the voters under that metric. Instead, Cruz offered personal praise.

“Could you imagine if Donald Trump, say he had a thousand delegates, and he was just shy of the nomination by a couple hundred”.
