Battle could begin over Prince’s estate

The goal of the hearing in Chaska, Minnesota was to formally appoint a “special administrator” who will handle the estate.

In the meantime, Alfred Jackson and his siblings have already met for one very short meeting, where, at the request of Tyka Nelson, Carver County District Judge Kevin Eide appointed Bremer Trust to handle the inheritance issues that have developed after the very untimely death of Prince.

Several of Prince’s siblings and half-siblings were in court, including his sister, Tyka Nelson.

“The attorneys wanted me to emphasize that the parties expressed confidence with Bremer Trust and a willingness to openly communicate” Judge Eide said.

Nonetheless, Nelson was quick to file an emergency petition for her late brother’s estate, and has reportedly expressed anger at the Minnesota law which deems half-siblings equally as eligible as full siblings.

Some details about prior calls to Prince’s address were released last week.

Sources say that Jackson is disabled and lives in a Veterans Affairs facility near Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Prince’s compound is. You never know. In these kinds of cases, especially dealing with large estates, it’s typical for there to be fruitless claims throughout.

Settling the celebrity’s estate could take years.

The gallery filled with a dozen lawyers, about three dozen journalists and five of Prince’s six known, living siblings remained silent.

With no will in sight and a new sister coming out of the woodwork, it’s fair to assume the fight for the music icon’s estate will be both long and arduous. “She will inherit the share that her grandparent would’ve been entitled to”, said Minnesota-based attorney Chris Burns.

Things between Prince’s surviving siblings have gotten wild and insane over the past week as reports claim that they’re battling each other over how much they each should receive of Prince’s leftover fortune.

One of his generation’s most prolific musicians, Prince died suddenly on April 21 at the age of 57 at his Paisley Park estate outside Minneapolis.

Younger half brother Omarr Baker, 45, is the son of Prince’s mother and her second husband. Another half-sibling, John Nelson, didn’t attend.

A law enforcement official who was briefed on the investigation into Prince’s death says investigators are looking into whether Prince died from an overdose.
