“I want to thank them for their professionalism, I want to thank them for their support, and I want to thank them for their understanding, and I want to apologize to both of those families on behalf of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Government of Saskatchewan for the error that was made”, Wilby said at the news conference.

“To try to hear from every person that Mark connected with here at York, you wouldn’t have time to hear from them all”, said Shayne Rover. “I’ll get us the gold”, Tom Straschnitzki said. “All I could do is offer our sincerest apologies”.

A Swift Current native, Schwean recalls the crash that killed four members of the Swift Current Broncos in 1986, but he says being a hockey dad now, this one has been much more hard to process. “We didn’t know them personally, but they were a team we watched from afar”.

Among those killed are the junior hockey team’s head coach, Darcy Haugan, captain Logan Schatz, forwards Jaxon Joseph and Logan Hunter, defenceman Stephen Wack and the team’s play-by-play radio announcer, Tyler Bieber.

Two members of the Humboldt Broncos – one who survived Friday’s tragic bus crash and one who died – were incorrectly identified as the other, the Ministry of Justice said Monday.

According to SHA, four patients are in critical condition, four are in serious condition and four are in stable condition.

The incomprehensible tragedy hits close to home and is felt even more profoundly by Nitehawks supporters, coaches, and players that knew the Edmonton native. The page, created by Humboldt resident and hockey mom Sylvie Kellington whose son was on the team past year, said the money will go directly to the families affected.
