The way free agent-to-be first baseman Edwin Encarnacion hits in Chase Field, it might make a comfy new home.

ARIZONA: The Diamondbacks have been a poor play for bettors with Corbin on the hill.
“I haven’t seen many like that”, manager John Gibbons said. If they had Average Joe (playing first base), the D-backs might sign (Encarnacion). “Maybe it’s that, I don’t know”. The Blue Jays scored ten runs in this game, and it felt like it easily could have been more. He had a five-homer, three-game series here in 2010 and a two-homer, three-game series in 2013. He was asked if he would play left field, and the team that did not lose a game all summer.
“I’ve looked at video a bunch and haven’t seen anything mechanically”, he said.
The Jays lead the AL in home attendance, and are third on the road, as the sea of blue continues to wash over those major-league ballparks south of the border.
Jean Segura and Yasmany Tomas had two hits apiece for the Diamondbacks (40-54), who had a two-game winning streak broken.
They’re also 1-4 in his last five starts after scoring five runs or more in their previous game and are winless at 0-4 in his last four starts after allowing two runs or less in their previous contest.
Jason Grilli and Roberto Osuna each threw a scoreless inning to complete the win.
“I didn’t command the ball as good in Oakland, ” he said. “Honestly, it’s just how stressful I make the innings, depending on how stressful those innings are”. “I thought I did a good job of commanding my heater, and everything worked off of that”.
Expect continued hand-wringing over Sanchez’s role as he enters uncharted territory following his next one-to-two starts. The game starts at 7:07 p.m. ET on Friday, Jul. 22 and will air on RSN and RTNW.
Sanchez’s seventh inning on Tuesday pushed him to 125.1 IP on the year, eight innings shy of his career high in a single season.
Encarnacion followed two-out singles by Travis and Donaldson in the third inning with a blast that gave the Jays a 3-1 lead.
In the first inning of Wednesday’s outing, Corbin failed to throw a first-pitch strike to any of the six hitters he faced.
A groundout moved the runners up, but Sanchez got Goldschmidt to ground out on a changeup and cleanup hitter Jake Lamb to fly out.
Arizona manager Chip Hale wasn’t all that critical. “With second and third, you would like to get a run in there”. He struck out seven and walked one.
He got a big three-run home run from Edwin Encarnacion, the slugger’s eighth home run at Chase Field in seven games played here as a Blue Jay, and that was plenty enough offence. He has been out since June 16. LHP Brett Cecil is the only lefty reliever on the roster.

“The defense just was not there today, that was disappointing” Hale said.
