Bayern Munich can claim their 1000th Bundesliga victory if they beat Cologne at home on Saturday as the German league leaders look to bounce back from their Arsenal disappointment.

Bayern were beaten by Wolfsburg in the pre-season German Supercup, but gained revenge in the Bundesliga with a 5-1 win, thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s record-breaking five-goal haul.
There will be a fascinating battle at Borussia Park also on Sunday when hosts Moenchengladbach take on third-placed Schalke. Such is the side’s dominance in recent seasons that history books are providing the yardstick by which its achievements are measured.
“I think [I was right to leave Madrid for Bayern]”, he told Bayern Munich’s official website. “It’s not no easy to be right there from the start of a season”.
Cologne will be no pushover.
See you Tuesday at Wolfsburg.
The 44-year-old Spaniard has guided his side to the top of the Bundesliga this season and was unbeaten for 12 games in all competitions before he suffered defeat against Arsenal in midweek.
The Netherlands winger was a surprise inclusion in Pep Guardiola’s starting XI for a first appearance since suffering a thigh injury while playing for his country last month. Team management, who has also made no secret about their desire to continue working with Guardiola, recently announced that conversations about a possible extension would be happening before the end of the year.
“I just like to be on the pitch every day and have close contact with the players”, he added.
But Leverkusen, who came from 4-2 down in the closing stages to snatch a point against Roma in the Champions League in midweek, hit back again with two goals in as many minutes from Sebastian Boenisch and Javier Hernandez. “There’s always a next game – and our next one is a tough one”. Have you talked with Arjen?

Bayern captain Phillip Lahm praised Guardiola at the weekend and said “the team want him to stay”, and the coach welcomed the former Germany international’s words.
