The links with Man United is perhaps down to the fact that Robben has worked with Louis van Gaal before and Bayern’s number ten has publicly hailed his relationship with the Red Devils boss, as per the report.

Robben was full of praise for his current boss as he came out to urge him to reject advances from City and continue his stay at the Allianz Arena.

“I never thought about a transfer [away from Bayern]”, he said.

“I am happy in Munich – my family feels very comfortable here”, said the 31-year-old.

‘My contract runs until 2017. You can’t look far forward in football, but everything is fine at the moment.

He told reporters: “We have one of the best coaches in the world”.
