Bayern looked superior in the second half but were denied by some good last-ditch defending.

Bayern’s Douglas Costa scored the all important penalty to send off the Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola with awesome credentials to Manchester City. After Sven Bender and Sokratis failed to score for Dortmund, Douglas Costa fired home the winning penalty to give Guardiola the flawless happy ending.
“I am glad for Pep”, said Muller.
Record German football champions Bayern Munich on Monday ruled out any new signings after the recent deals with Mats Hummels and Renato Sanches. Bayern Munich will have a great future with these players and this mentality”, he said at his last post-match interview as the Bayern boss.
“Titles are just numbers to me, the fans are happy.
Since then, only Wolfsburg – in last season’s DFB-Pokal final – have managed to get their names instead of Bayern’s on a German trophy, while Dortmund have now lost three straight domestic cup finals.
“We always wanted to be a global player and with the arrival of Pep Guardiola in Munich, we achieved that”.
But he paid tribute to Guardiola’s legacy at Bayern: “From a footballing and tactical point of view, a lot will stay from this coach, not only for me but for all of the team”.
“That’s why there was this emotional outburst, and I can understand it”.
Manchester City-bound Guardiola could not hold back the tears after his side won the DFB Pokal on penalties on Saturday, praising the players for making his three years in Munich so memorable.
Neither side could break the deadlock, and Guardiola’s farewell was taken to extra-time where Ribery set up Lewandowski in the penalty area.
Pep Guardiola has placed Philipp Lahm among Bayern Munich’s greatest legends.
Guardiola will be replaced by Carlo Ancelotti as Bayern head coach next season and insists he leaves the Bavarian giants in rude health.

That same confidence also saw Bayern remain calm and collected in the Champions League this season, completing an improbable comeback against Juventus in the final minutes of regular time and almost downing Atletico Madrid when they seemed against the ropes.
