Bayern knew two weeks ago Guardiola would leave
Pep Guardiola will leave Bayern Munich as head coach at the end of the season and be replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed yesterday.

Guardiola has been linked with moves to both Manchester clubs, while newspaper reports suggest Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is trying to persuade the 44-year-old to instead move to Stamford Bridge.
Ancelotti delivered Madrid’s coveted 10th Champions League title in 2014 – beating Guardiola’s Bayern en route to the final – but the following season produced no trophies and he left in May.
Ancelotti – a former manager of Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Milan – has signed a three-year-deal with Bayern and will take up his new job next summer.
“I think Pep is one of the best coaches in the world so if he doesn’t continue at Bayern maybe a lot of teams can try to have him manage their team”, the Chilean said.
“Ancelotti is one of three of the most famous, and perhaps most talented, coaches of the last decade: Guardiola, (Jose) Mourinho and Carlo”.
Sammer added that Bayern chose the date after the final match of the year to “focus on the balance squad, coach and club” in the New Year.
He won three Primera Division titles between 2008 and 2012 having stepped up from coaching the B team, lifting the Spanish Cup and the Champions League twice, having won the league six times and the Champions Cup once as a Barcelona player.
The Bavarians announced at the weekend that Guardiola will not extend his contract beyond the end of the season and immediately named Ancelotti as the man to take over. BeIN Sports understands that the announcement made by the brother of Pep Guardiola confirmed that Guardiola will sign a 3-year contract as he looks to turn the Citizens to a major contender in the English Premier league as well as the UEFA Champions league.
Current boss Manuel Pellegrini was handed a new contract in the summer, but with former Barcelona figures Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain in the Etihad Stadium hierarchy, Guardiola is being tipped to follow suit.
“He suits us, as simple as that”.
“Chicharito” claimed his 17th goal in Leverkusen’s last 14 games in all competitions when he stabbed home his 11th league goal of the season since joining from Manchester United.

“It’s an honour for me to be a part of this great club next season, FC Bayern Munich”, reads the statement.
