Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski is reportedly open to joining Liverpool, but only if and when the club return to the Champions League.

Boateng knows only too well the threat Lewandowski – who scored 13 goals in qualifying for Poland – poses but insists their Group C opponents are no one-man team.

After a dour first half, Poland were more adventurous in the second and created the best chances of the match.

And Boateng sung his team-mate’s praises, adding: “I think Mats is a very important player for us”.

Poland striker Robert Lewandowski was disappointing in his side’s goalless stalemate against adopted nation Germany on Thursday at the Stade de France, and just hasn’t been able to pick up where he left off so far in this summer’s tournament.

“Like in the first match, the players put a lot of heart and ambition into this match and the results came”.

Joachim Low’s men next face Northern Ireland in their final group game on Tuesday.

“Maybe I couldn’t be fully happy, we didn’t score a goal”.

“Lewandowski’s performance in every single match is incredibly important for our game plan”, said the coach.

The paper claims Lewandowski has “told friends” he is willing to listen to other offers and those are likely to be numerous with the player believed to be interested in teaming up again with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

“He is at the highest level and l and I am pleased that he is in optimal form”.
