Bayern Munich Thrash Arsenal 5-1; Other Champions League Results

Having beaten Bayern at the Emirates Stadium a fortnight ago, the Gunners brought a decent record to Germany only to be blown away by one of Europe’s super-powers.

Arsenal pulled one back through Olivier Giroud with 20 minutes left but Mueller restored Bayern’s four-goal lead in the last minute.

Coming off a huge, totally unexpected Arsenal home win in the last round of Champions League matches, Bayern made no mistake about who’s really the better team and pasted the Gunners, 5-1 today.

His replacement Gabriel was culpable of playing Robert Lewandowski onside to allow the in-form Poland worldwide to open the scoring.

Their loss was felt heavily in midweek, as Arsene Wenger’s side were demolished 5-1 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League. “Francis Coquelin has come in and given them something a bit different, but we have seen in both matches against Bayern Munich they are lightweight in the midfield department”. We were extremely poor defensively.

Neymar scored a double and Luis Suarez also netted as Barcelona defeated BATE Borisov 3-0, putting them on the verge of qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League for the 12th consecutive season.

“I can’t tell you if it’s the worst of my tenure”. This game will not remain in my memory as nothing positive happened at all.

Arsenal, which has qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League in each of the past 15 seasons, is now hanging on by a thread. “But we have to realise that with that kind of performance our chances are at a minimum”. I’m very concerned [about the injuries] because we are only in November and we have so many players out. We gave them more things to think about and we created a few chances. “I watched the game again and not a lot has changed since my analysis after the game”.

Although his reasoning is understandable that it was not possible to upgrade on his squad, he could have easily added 2-3 players as squad depth.

“You make this question to a coach and a club then you have to know it is impossible to not try and win the game”, he said when asked if he could assure Arsenal the group leaders will not settle for a draw. Cech was up to the task, making several good saves to keep Arsenal within reach early on.

“We have come off two very good wins so we are going into the game on a high and hopefully we can finish the week off well”.
