Baylor Men’s Golf Tied for Seventh at NCAA Kohler Regional

The Tennessee men’s golf team is tied for 10th after the first round of the NCAA Stillwater Regional on Monday at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla. The Gamecocks posted a round of 1-under 287 at Ol’ Colony Golf Complex, with Matt NeSmith’s 2-under 70 leading the way. No. 10 Florida State (284), No. 45 Kent State (288) and No. 4 IL (289).

A pair of Georgia golfers are tied with Paul, Greyson Sigg (ranked No. 31 in the nation) and Zach Healy (No. 64). The top five teams advance to the NCAA Championship finals which will be held May 27-June 1 in Eugene, Ore. SC now holds a seven-stroke lead over the sixth-place team, Auburn, with 36 holes left at the Regional.

NeSmith finished the day two-under par to lead the Gamecocks and check in tied for fifth overall.

Perrine and Shattuck both recorded their eighth rounds of par or better this season.

The senior has shot below par in three of his last four NCAA Regional rounds.

Duke will be grouped with Alabama State and the tournament’s individuals on Tuesday, starting play on the back nine at 10:50 a.m. ET.

COWBOYS UP EARLY: Oklahoma State distanced itself from the pack after the first round of the NCAA Stillwater Regional. He birdied the 10th, 11th and 14th holes and enters the second day just five shots off the individual pace. The regional host Cowboys (-3) were the only team to finish under par Monday. He would finish in a tie for 23 place at the Chapel Hill, N.C. Regional.

The 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Regionals are set to get underway on Monday, with seven Big Ten teams and four individuals taking to the course.

Florida and Idaho tied for the team lead at 5-under 283, one shot better than Florida State.

“I am thankful that Ryan had a great week of practice having the opportunity to play different courses each day this week”, said head coach Todd Lawton.

Nolen’s inward nine began with four consecutive pars before he carded his first birdie of the back nine at the 14th.
