A Baylor University offensive lineman and former member of the University of Texas football team was arrested Monday for allegedly stalking his ex-girlfriend.

The Baylor football program has been in the news this year for all the wrong reasons.
According to the affidavit, during Hammad’s pleas to the woman for forgiveness, he would talk of suicide, and the woman said she felt she needed to see or speak to him many times to keep him from harming himself.
The woman told Hammad, a 21-year-old junior from Irving, to leave before she went into the class, but he waited for her outside, according to the affidavit.
The professor first tried to call Hammad’s coaches, but when no one in the athletic department was available, she placed a call to Baylor police. Fearing for her safety, the woman walked with her professor to his office.
According to the woman, she and Hammad ended their relationship in May.
Hammad continued trying to make contact with his ex-girlfriend after police told him to stay away from her, the Tribune-Herald said. After multiple “unsuccessful” calls to Baylor athletics, the woman and professor called 911.
After she was interviewed July 7, the woman claimed she was abused in the past by Hammad and that he had pushed her into a wall before and put his hand around her throat.
He was arrested and booked into the McLennan County Jail on Monday charged with a third degree felony stalking charge. The ex-girlfriend accuses Hammad of being extremely emotional, as well as manipulative, and describes the measures she took to avoid him after their apparent break-up.

The number of sexual assault allegations against players, along with coaches covering up the actions, led to Art Briles being fired and the athletic director and president resigning, and the entire school being under scrutiny for reportedly helping in the cover ups. While two former players are in prison regarding rape charges, former defensive end Shawn Oakman is now facing sexual assault charges.
