Bayne, Biffle, Larson on top in Showdown
There is more rain in the forecast for Saturday night, which could potentially delay the start of the All-Star Race. Biffle won the second segment while Larson held off Elliott to win the final 10-lap segment. Prior to Bayne’s late-segment move to the front, Elliott was the only race leader after starting on the pole, with Ryan Blaney and Austin Dillon running second and third until only in-segment caution in the first segment for a Michael McDowell spin with about five laps to go. “Don’t think that I don’t see social media and see all the times that people said they voted for me”. Larson and AJ Allmendinger started on the front row, and Elliott – who had fallen back – had a massive charge on four fresh tires to get into contention.

Biffle was relatively unchallenged in the second segment and won going away to punch his ticket to the All-Star race. Bayne was able to make the pass because Blaney got a jump on the restart and pinned Elliott down in turns 1 and 2. “I saw a little hole, and somehow we made it through without getting our vehicle beat up”.
“We had a good Target Chevy”, Larson said. “I was skeptical of it, trust me, but I tell you what, what really made the difference was we made a chassis adjustment, two left side tires, the auto was really fast the last single lap that we made under green and I was able to pass four cars in one lap”. After Biffle took the lead, Larson moved into second and ran runner-up to Biffle for the remainder of the segment. “What I want to do, not only in a situation like this where I know the fans were the ones that put me in the race, but every other weekend I’m on the track, I want to do well for them”. Bayne took the lead on the backstretch and held on to edge Elliott at the finish line by.
Danica Patrick didn’t have the greatest morning Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but it was good enough for her to race again Saturday night. Qualifying for the All-Star Race begins at 7 p.m. ET, with the race, which also be divided into three segments, to follow at 9 p.m. ET (all to be televised on FS1).
