Six days after the alleged assault, which occurred in or around Dawson Creek, a Supreme Court family law proceeding was initiated involving Pimm. The court record identifies the case as a “K” file – the B.C. criminal justice branch’s designation for spousal violence.

Pimm was due to make a first appearance in provincial court in Dawson Creek on September 13. He now sits as an independent MLA.

He was arrested last month and stepped down shortly after from the BC Liberal Party caucus.

The release also says that as this matter is before the courts, the CJB and the Special Prosecutor will not be making any further comment.

Pimm, who was first elected in 2009 and re-elected in 2013, announced past year that he would not run in the 2017 provincial election.

Since, then, a RTCC was submitted to the Criminal Justice Branch for charge assessment and the special prosecutor’s mandate was expanded under s. 7 (2) of the Crown Counsel Act to include charge assessment and having conduct of any ensuing prosecution.
