It happened Monday in Colorado Springs. The police department there posted photos of the scene on social media.

One of the employees, Sawyer Janney, said he was startled when all the commotion began, not by the bear but by a co-worker. Ultimately, Parks and Wildlife officers were called in to remove the wayward wanderer.

The bear fell asleep in the back of the store on a rack of boxes and was tranquilized before she could get a pizza.

Turns out, the cuddly cub was orphaned; the mother was nowhere to be found. The cub was also malnourished, and nursing a wounded paw. It will be taken to a wildlife rehabilitation center to recover and eventually be released back into the wild.

According to Colorado Springs police, the bear was first spotted near Palmer High School, which is about two blocks from the restaurant.

Cute, but also a unsafe situation. Barker said the bear appeared to be alone.

The black bear had an injured paw and employees said it hung out in the restaurant's prep area for about an hour
