Bears center Hroniss Grasu out for the season with torn ACL
We’ll go through numerous recent developments, leading into the preseason opener on Thursday.

Coach John Fox wasn’t about to blame the patchy grass at Soldier Field for the injury and he made it clear that he is against installing artificial turf at the stadium, which is owned by the Chicago Parks District.
“I think he’s done a fabulous job and I do believe him. We’ll adjust. That’s what you do”.
Bears defensive end Akiem Hicks, who signed with the team this year but previously played at Soldier Field with the New Orleans Saints, said the field condition was “fine”. Now, rookie guard Cody Whitehair or veteran interior lineman Ted Larsen is expected to take over the starting role at center. Several players ran onto the field to join the fracas. It took a couple of minutes for order to be restored.
The Chicago Bears are going to have to make some adjustments on their offensive line going into the season, as center Hroniss Grasu has been ruled out for the rest of the year with a torn ACL.
“He’s a pro”, Cutler said. “We talked to him. I know he is protecting his teammates and doing everything possible, but there are some things we just can’t do”.
For his part, Long apologized for his behavior but said the chemistry in the Bears’ locker room is strong. We have plenty of time. We can’t let that happen. I hold myself accountable for some of the stuff.

Right now, the veteran Cutler is acting like an extension of the coaching staff in his message and in his tone, which is a far cry from the perpetually petulant guy that pouted his way out of Denver and clashed with every offensive coordinator he laid eyes on (though let’s be real, none of them were very good).
