Bears’ Jeffery to miss final game with hamstring injury
The Chicago Bears have signed DL Greg Scruggs and DL Terry Williams and placed DL Eddie Goldman and WR Alshon Jeffery on the reserve/injured list.

In a season full of major health setbacks, the Chicago Bears’ injury toll grew yet again Wednesday morning.
The Bears have placed Jeffery (hamstring) on IR. Jeffery was limited to nine games because of a variety of injuries. With only one game remaining and neither looking like they’ll play, it just makes sense for the Bears to shut them down and bring in a couple new faces for an up close and personal look. “That’s how I’d assess it”. And that doesn’t include receiver Kevin White, who has missed his entire rookie season on the physically-unable-to-perform-list after undergoing surgery to fix a stress fracture in his left leg.
After totaling five receptions and 78 yards in the season opener against the Green Bay Packers, Jeffery injured a hamstring that resulted in him missing the next four games. Jeffery, who moved into the No. 1 role following the trade of Brandon Marshall to the New York Jets last offseason, struggled to stay on the field.
There is also absolutely no apparent rationale for allowing him to leave without getting anything in return, so they will be obligated to hang a franchise tag on Jeffery, which will cost them about $14 million in 2016 and give him another year to try to earn the long-term, more lucrative deal.
Scruggs played in 14 games for the Seahawks from 2012-14 and had eight tackles and two sacks.

Williams, an undrafted free agent from East Carolina, spent the first month of the season on Chicago’s practice squad.
