Bears place LB Pernell McPhee and WR Marquess Wilson on PUP list

Fullback Paul Lasike also made the roster. As usual, I was wrong about plenty of them.

McPhee, the team’s best defensive player when healthy last season, will miss at least the first six games of the season. Rookie Leonard Floyd and veteran Sam Acho should work into the rotation, too.

McPhee, 27, had six sacks in his first season with the Bears, though only one in the final nine weeks of the season. Like McPhee, Wilson will be unavailable until week 7. It’s unsure how much Wilson will play once he returns, but the Bears are clearly higher on Wilson’s potential than I am.

When the Chicago Bears released rookie Daniel Braverman earlier today, it was assumed that both Eddie Royal and Marc Mariani would make the active roster as the starting and backup slot receiver for the offense. Rodgers, is only 26, but appeared to have lost a step this season. Jeremy Langford is now the oldest Bears running back at 24 years old, leading the group with Ka’Deem Carey and Jordan Howard. He suffered the injury last season but suffered through the pain to finish the season, so the surgery was a must. That’s valaubale production. Not to mention that Mariani was the Bears primary punt returner. This move makes little sense to me as the Bears were already thin at the returner positon with the injury to Deonte Thompson.

Comment: The Bears’ opted to keep return man Thompson despite an ankle injury that sidelined him for the last two exhibition games. The Bears had to be at 53 players on their roster by Saturday afternoon.

Comment: Ego Ferguson was waived with an injured designation, wiping out former general manager Phil Emery’s second-round pick from 2014.
