Bears to Sign QB Glennon

It’s unclear what the structure of Glennon’s deal is, so perhaps there are options for the Bears to move on if Glennon doesn’t play well.

For that kind of money, however, it makes more sense to install Glennon as the starter to give the Bears’ investment the best chance succeed.

Many believe that the Bears are overpaying Glennon, but he does fill a need at the quarterback position. He’s behind just about every single starting quarterback out there, while being above all the guys on rookie deals and also above guys like Robert Griffin III and Chase Daniel, who, you know, aren’t starters. This is no way to find the next Drew Brees, the goal Pace referenced at last week’s scouting combine. Maybe if you put it next to Brian Hoyer’s two-year, $6 million contract he’ll soon sign with the San Francisco 49ers, it doesn’t look like the most thrifty allocation of resources.
