Beats Pill+ is an elegant Bluetooth speaker with Apple Lightning connector

Still, it’s cool to see Beats bringing these features to its products. That changes today, as Beats has just announced the Pill+, a wireless Bluetooth speaker that clearly has an Apple-influenced design, not to mention a Lightning port for charging.

“The Beats Pill+ is slightly larger than the original Beats Pill speaker, allowing for a bigger and fuller sound”.

The Pill+ will retail for $230 and will be available for purchase at Apple.com and other authorized Beats by Dr. Dre retailers.

A new app to use with the Beats Pill+ speakers gives you the option to pair two speakers and have them play in Amplify or Stereo mode. The Pill+ only comes in stark black or white options – the total opposite approach of LG, which wraps its Bluetooth speakers in brightly clashing colors.

There’s a stereo active 2-way crossover system on board that creates and optimised sound field for dynamic range and clarity. It’s the Beats Pill+, a $229.95 stopgap between the base model and the higher end drivers you’d pay more for. The device has two woofers, so you can expect excellent audio output from these speakers. The Beats Pill+ promises a “premium sound experience for music fans”, the popular audio-brand was co-founded by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine before it was acquired by Apple.

When you obsess about sound the way that we do at Beats, portable Bluetooth speakers can be very tricky. According to Luke Wood, Beats President, the company spent a long time testing out the speakers to come up with the flawless function and form combination.

The sound and design of the Beats Pill+ is already fairly impressive. The button controls have also moved to the top of the speaker. Keep track of your power levels with the fuel gauge so you always know how much battery is left and use the USB port to charge out. Also the Bluetooth device can be put 300 feet away from a phone or a tab, yet it provides exceptional sound and music. On the other note, against the product recall in June customers can return Beats Pill XL bought since January 2014 for $325 or use similar amount on Apple Store credit.
