She was stabbed 16 times just steps from the apartment she shared with him in Washington Heights.
“(Cops) found the defendant still on the scene standing over the victim with a knife still protruding from the chest”, the prosecutor added.
Since his arrest, Davenport had undergone a psychiatric evaluation at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Centre and charged with second degree murder.
Kevin Winter/Getty Images Actor Morgan Freeman and E’Dena Hines arrive to the 62nd Annual Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in 2005.
Davenport, who police have said was in a relationship with Hines, was arrested when officers responded to a 911 call reporting the stabbing.
Carl told the New York Daily News newspaper: “E’Dena was incredibly self-sufficient, vocal and incredibly talented. In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out”‘.
In asking the judge to remand the defendant, Mr. Penfold noted Mr. Davenport has out-of-state ties to Memphis, where he previously lived, and to Pennsylvania, where his mother lives.
The actor’s beloved granddaughter, E’Dena Hines, 33 – whom he brought on his arm to several red-carpet events, including the 2005 Oscars – was slain at the hands of her drug-crazed boyfriend Sunday morning, police sources said.
Annie Costanzo, Mr. Davenport’s attorney from the Legal Aid Society, said she would reserve the right to make a bail application for her client at a later date.
