Beautiful Exploration Game The Witness Gets a Release Date and New Trailer

Sony today confirmed that The Witness, the sophomore title from Jonathan Blow, will be released on the PlayStation Network on January 26. The Witness will initially release on PlayStation 4 before coming to other platforms once the timed exclusivity deal expires. It is set in a vibrant and beautiful world, where the player seems to be the only living thing around. Along the way the player will be tasked with solving logical puzzles that incorporate mazes, themes, and complex architecture. This trailer really gives the impression that The Witness will play similarly to other puzzle games like Myst.

The game had been delayed quite a lot as Blow was originally hoping to get it ready around the PS4’s launch nearly two years ago.

“When we started making this game, I figured it would have between 8 and 12 hours of playtime”, Blow said.
