Samsung will reportedly show off the smartphone and announce the official specifications along with the release date and pricing information at its MWC keynote event.

Samsung Electronics on January 10 unveiled its foldable smartphone privately to select clients at the CES trade show in Las Vegas, according to industry sources on January 12. The phone is likely to sport a 7.3-inch OLED display that folds inside, and Samsung is making sure it doesn’t get damaged from repeated folding mechanisms.
As most of the top leading brands do, Samsung took advantage of CES this year to showcase and collect feedbacks from their closest clients behind a closed door. Samsung also introduced foldable Smartphones previous year at MWC 2017 by setting up a private exhibition room for its major customers.
While still not official, a PhoneArena report reveals that Samsung this time again brought the Galaxy X to the CES 2018, just like past year, and it looked “almost finished”.
According to a report from ETNews, the infolding screen features a curvature radius of 1R, which means the display can be rolled around an imaginary cylinder with a radius of 1 millimeter. 1R indicates amount of curvedness of a circle with a radius of 1mm.

In-folding technology had to deal with a problem where strength of the part that is folded becomes weaker. The fingerprint sensor is on the back of the phone, a much more natural placement for picking up and easily unlocking it. Proving to users that a Samsung foldable Galaxy X is a trailblazer and the phone of the future rather than a neat gimmick may be a bit of a battle for the Korean tech giant.
“We have a plan to adopt a foldable display in our roadmap”. In the private meeting, Samsung is believed to have invited different types of clients in order to estimate the response of customers to such devices.

Interest for this enigmatic foldable device has been rising in recent years, with heavy speculation and even concept product renders of a so-called Galaxy X phone frequently making the rounds.
