Beckham Jr. fined for illegal hit vs. Saints

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was fined $36,000 for a crackback block against New Orleans Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro last week, according to a report by Fox’s Jay Glazer.

Beckham did catch two passes for 44 yards in the first half, both coming in Norman’s zone. Unfortunately for NY, that all went for naught when Manning threw an interception a couple of plays later.

Giants center Weston Richburg took a shot at Norman during the play and then had some words for him, leading to his second unsportsmanlike penalty of the game, an automatic disqualification under the new rule (spurred by Beckham’s actions against Norman last season).

Earlier that drive, Norman receiver an unnecessary roughness penalty after tackling Sterling Shepard.

It didn’t take long for Norman and Beckham to engage in some post-play activity.

Beckham’s block came in the third quarter of New York’s 16-13 victory.

In the latest installment of the increasingly salty Josh Norman-Odell Beckham Jr. feud, the All-Pro corner resorts to straight-up bear hugs. Beckham and Landry, respectively, are No. 1 and No. 2 all time in receiving yards in a player’s first two National Football League seasons. Norman was not always in man coverage vs. Beckham.

Beckham also caught his 200th career pass in just his 30th career game, the fewest games needed to reach that number, according to Elias Sports Bureau.
